John & Carey Gregg

I (John) grew up in a family of four brothers and a sister, in the rural Midwest, coming to faith in Christ at age 16 in my hometown of Perrysburg, Ohio. Carey began her relationship with Christ as a girl growing up in Northern California. We've been married for 25+ years, and have four children, age middle school through college — all of whom love the Lord. Carey, grew up in a wonderful family of three sisters. She remembers always loving the Lord as a child but her personal faith in Christ began to flourish during junior high school. Her decision to attend Vanguard University proved to be life changing as she and I met in the campus library (I was diligently studying, and she was flyin' through, grabbing a book to take to the beach!)

While Carey nurtured a childhood dream of being married to a youth pastor, I began to sense God's call to be a pastor at age 17 (this was an interesting vocational choice given that my family history had no pastors, and not even any Christians, at that time). I have now been involved in continuous full-time ministry since 1978. I did my undergraduate work in Southern California at Vanguard University (B.A. in Pastoral Ministry and Psychology), and my Graduate work at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, Missouri (M.A. in Biblical Studies with a Leadership emphasis).

I love being the lead pastor of a dynamic local church like Christian Center, and invest my primary energies in leadership and communication, urging this church family toward full devotion to Christ. My giftings would be leadership, teaching, encouragement, administration and faith. We'll discuss my weaknesses at another time! Carey also loves this church, and being a pastor's wife, staying busy with Women's Ministries and a bunch of other ministry opportunities, including serving with a team of women who are passionate about growing in their love for God and others.

My hobbies include golf, hunting, hiking, and reading; my favorite food is bratwurst and sauerkraut and all kinds of Mexican food; my favorite pet is "Scout" my German Shorthaired Pointer. My wife is also a big fan of the outdoors: water and snow skiing are among her favorite hobbies, and can she ever ski! She is the ultimate mom as together we love to watch and support our kids in their many activities.
